HTC posts comprehensive video walkthrough of the Desire HD, Desire Z and the new Sense UI features: "

HTC has published a high resolution video walkthrough of the company’s two latest devices that were introduced at the event in London yesterday: the HTC Desire HD and the Desire Z. Besides giving us a closer look at the hardware of the phones, some of the new features and widgets in the next version of HTC Sense are demonstrated.

The aluminum-body of the Desire Z looks very slick indeed, and the hinge mechanism of the QWERTY keyboard, seemingly inspired by the Nokia N97, is shown. The new hinge design enables you to easily access the top row of keys even if you have long fingernails, and it will supposedly provide a “more natural typing experience”.

We get to see some of the new HTC Sense features on the Desire HD as well, such as a personalization tab that can be accessed directly from the launcher dock, a nicer Scenes selection interface, film strip view landscape mode for the Gallery app, an eReader application, as well as enhancements to the camera software that now includes various vintage effects. Another addition that I am personally particularly fond of since I’ve been wanting this functionality for awhile, is the option to rearrange the order of your homescreens as you please by dragging them around. Let’s hope that the industrious modding community soon will port all this sweet stuff to the original HTC Desire and other Sense devices, if they won’t get an official upgrade.

A 7.5-minute introduction to the Desire HD has also appeared on the HTC YouTube channel. Hit the play button on the two videos below to have a look at HTC’s latest (and greatest?) yourself.
